Form & Function Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine is pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Spenco Medical and now offer Spenco inserts!
In the world of functional biomechanics, the foot is the first link in the body’s chain reactions of movement. In a perfect world, everyone would have perfect functioning feet. But, unfortunately this is not the case. Some over pronate, some may over supinate. Some have locked calcaneal joints (heel bones), poor Big toe mobility, or Calcaneal spurs which can contribute to increases in Plantar Fasciitis. All of this and more can take root in the foot and alter its mechanics, affecting the rest of the body all the way up to a person’s neck!
Functional physical therapy seeks out the origin of a dysfunction and restores proper mechanics while reducing symptoms caused by the dysfunction. On occasion, a dysfunction may arise from structural changes such as the afore mentioned trouble. In these cases an external support can greatly help restore the mechanics of the foot. When combined with functional physical therapy the inserts created by Spenco Medical provide simple and efficient correction. The inserts vary in degree of correction, and level of cushion. They fit into most backed shoes and are easily modified to accommodate feet with unique needs.
Form & Function Physical Therapy is founded on the functional biomechanics method, and is intimately aware of the dramatic effects that foot mechanics can have on the body. We regularly screen for changes in foot mechanics and gait changes. Keeping feet moving well can greatly ease tension in knees, hips, and backs.
We are currently offering fittings in the following Spenco product options:
TOTAL SUPPORT
WALKER-RUNNER
Cross Trainer
KIDS POLYSORB
Kids Total Support
If you’d like to learn more about foot mechanics or would like to refer someone, please call to schedule a free consultation and gait assessment. We will be more than happy to help you determine if you may benefit from Spenco inserts.
